Briefing from The Brown Bungalow

the entry hall of The Brown Bungalow

Ever since we returned from our whirlwind house-hunting trip to The Land of Flip  Flops, life has become a blur of purging, packing, cleaning, staging, and transporting carloads of stuff to the donation place.

Purging: there is nothing like a cross-country move to motivate one to clean out the closets!

Packing: I've been going through my famous collection of catalogued boxes (my long-time readers know all about that) to see what might be eliminated, or packed more efficiently.

Cleaning: when potential buyers will be coming through the house, it should go without saying that cleanliness is a huge boost toward getting a contract. Although some don't go to the effort which always shocks me.

Staging: we are following the instructions of our realtor's photographer in tucking away family photos and religious symbols, removing from sight the soaps, shampoo bottles, and electric can opener so it looks like immaculate people live here who don't need such things to maintain their perfection.

Our staging and cleaning are just about done. Until we get a contract on the house, it will be as though we are living in a home decorating magazine.

Don't misunderstand. I'm not complaining. I am incredibly thankful to be in the midst of this huge life-change.
